Imprisoned soldier's fiance waits 24 years

While not quite the longest engagement on record, it proves just how romantic Living Dangerously can be. A Moroccan soldier named Abderrahim asked Bahia for her hand in 1979. But then he was called to fight separatist guerrillas over control of Morocco's Western Sahara territory. Poor Abderrahim was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was captured, and stayed captured in a desert prison until last month.

As soon as he was released, he made a beeline for Bahia, and they were quickly married. Said Abderrahim, "I was convinced she'd wait for me. I had blind confidence in her since the first day we met." Said Bahia, "I never thought I had lost my husband. I knew he'd come back one day."
